About

I am a Netbook Enthusiast who created this web blog to share his thoughts and tips regarding this wonderful device. I do a lot of traveling for my business, so having a portable netbook will certainly be an indispensable tool.

Here is my current Netbook:

Dell Inspiron 11z (Dell calls this a “laptop”, but it’s really a “Netbook” in disguise)

- 2 GB RAM
- 160 GB Hard drive 5400 RPM
- Celeron 1.3 GHz processor
- 11.6″ High Definition WLED Display (1366×768)
- Super Wireless-N card
- Bluetooth card
- Obsidian black cover
- 1.3 MP Webcam
- 3-cell battery (standard)
- 2 yr on-site warranty

Aside from Netbooks, I’m also a big Microsoft Zune supporter, so you can check out my Zune web blog at zunetips.wordpress.com if you’re interested.

Finally, in case you’re curious, I live in the wonderful Seattle, Washington area and am loving every minute of it!

Update (10 Oct 2009) - I’ve jumped back into the Netbook scene again with a new Dell Inspiron 11z due to arrive at my house on Oct 29th, 2009 with the Windows 7 OS installed!

Update (8 Feb 2009) - From this posting you can read why I decided to return my Dell Mini 9 and be without a Netbook for the time being.

Help! I get the following message when I boot my Mini 9 – Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.

I have two MINI 9 machines. Is there a way to create a bootable system from the working machine on a flash drive, boot up the broken one and then transfer the required file?

Thanking you in advance for your advice.

Joe: If you have two identical Mini 9 machines, you could clone the disk on the “good” machine over to the “bad” machine. This works well if the two machines have identical hardware, components, etc.

Check out my previous postings titled “Clone Your Disk Drive” on this blog site. Personally, I have used the freeware product called Clonezilla successfully with my former Mini 9 and a few other laptops that I have. It’s not the friendliest to use, but it does work.

    Good luck!
